Since the kiddos finally saw the ocean in San Diego, now I can take them down south without Mark missing a major milestone. Of course, it's always better with him, because he's fun and has crab ESP among other skills. After lots of weekends with meetings, moves, work, and other schedule-grabbers we PROTECTED this one as a full-on family day.
YAY!

Simon's CA cousins taught him the "No Fear" mantra, so he attacked the water--a relief from his more timid moments.
For all the West Coast readers out there, yes, it looks overcast, but in TX that's a good thing.
We took turns with Alli out in the dry sand and she promptly jabbed a sandy finger in the eye of the available parent as soon as the other one was out of earshot. YOUCH!!! But, she's cute. . . . once you can see again.

i saws some waves out there in texas! good stuff.
I went surfing before work this morning. The dolphins were surfing too. Took off on a wave, dolphin right next to me riding the same wave -- unreal. they look like torpedoes when they're coming at you, kind of scary actually. thankfully they're agile and dive a bit upon approach to get under you. the pelicans were diving for fish too, they look like 10 pound boomerangs piercing the water. they make a cool sound when they hit, like the sound i heard when i dropped a bowling ball into the water off the twin falls bridge in idaho on a trip i took with my roomate in college. i believe my purchase at the local deseret industry that day was comprised of two items: a bowling ball, and a wife beater tank top, which i was sporting when i dropped the bowling ball.
